The Nike Air Max 180 Ultramarine 2024 puts the spotlight on a hidden gem within the expanded universe of the Nike back catalogue. Born in the spring of 1991 answering to a different name; the Air 180 never really took off despite a considerable promotional push by Nike. However, like with most of what the Oregon-based brand touches, it eventually turned to gold, with the shoe gathering a cult following that would eventually lead to some mainstream success under a slightly different guise, the Air Max 180. Fresh for 2024 this iteration arrives on shelves as a much-anticipated re-work of the OG Ultramarine colourway released in 2018 that faithfully keeps the unmistakably 90s shape and aesthetic. Constructed from sail suede and white mesh panelling, the shoe's upper comes complete with blue and solar red accents that the Ultramarine colourway is perhaps best known for. While underneath, the same 180-degree exposed Air unit has survived, fully intact, and continues to hit streets three decades since its debut.
